Laos Visa Run

Laos border is North-east of Thailand, Laos is known for its beautiful scenery and food. Please see below about border runs to Laos, Thai baht is also accepted in Laos. You can go to Laos via plane which makes it much easier as you can get your visa at the airport. But if you want to make it more of an adventure, then follow the steps below.

Thailand to Laos via train, car or bus

• If you want to go by train (from Hua Lamphong station) , bus or car you will need to go to Nong Kai (Thailand) which will take about 11 hours so make sure you take a book. When you get to Nong Klai, you will need to take a taxi or bus to cross the friendship bridge to Vientiane (Laos)

• The border crossing between Nong Kai and Vientiane you can get your visa from Thai immigration for about $35.00 USD, it will generally be cheaper if you pay in USD and there will be a place you can exchange money close by. But if you can also get this in bangkok at most travel agents or the Laos Embassy.

• The visa run has been complete, you will get your re-entry stamp when re-entering Thailand and you can make your way home. I recommend staying in Laos for at least a few days, the accommodation is so cheap and there is a lot of things to see during the day.
