I have been to Hua hin a few times and think it's great, but I can't help thinking that it will be over run by tourists and then won't be as good.
What are your opinions on this? Do you think it will stay as nice it is today in 10 years?

I agree it is a nice place too. I think it will turn into a Phuket/Pattaya in about 5 to 10 years which will be sad. Unless we can all spread around how bad the place is, Everyone will stick to Pattaya and Phuket

Hua Hin has it's place. Though not my cuppa....little bit to hiso, less real. Important historically in a Siam context. Nice surrounding beaches. Nice for a getaway weekend.....far to expensive to take root. Too many Farang.

I have never been to Hua hin. Might have to check it out. Are the beaches like down south?

Why the intense self-loathing?
Being surrounded by non-thai speaking tourists and having shops selling western food spoils the atmosphere.

I have nothing, but praise for the entire stretch of coast - but one has to be wise enough to leave the herd-tourists in HH-city
Check these pictures:
Sea Pine Garden – Hua Hin, less known Jewel for Beachfun
or these:
One more idyllic tropical Paradise in Thailand, Sai Noi Beach!
You won't hear many Farang words there!

Hua hin does look very nice, but the sand is not really white.
Is Hua hin expensive?

Why don't more tourists go to Hua hin if it is so nice?

Apart from a nice beach it doesn't have much appeal

Hua hin is only nice when you want a laid back holiday. Not good for anything else.
