I have been to Thailand a few times now and just love it. I was thinking about maybe moving to Thailand for a year or 2. What type of jobs are there in Thailand that are easy to get? I know working in a bar is not good as the wage is crap.

I have a degree and I heard teaching is what a lot of foreigners are doing, but I don't want to teach. Is there anything else there?

Well if you don't have a degree, you can only opne a business or become a teacher, many sources will say you also need a degree to be a teacher but that is not the case. You do need to do a TEFL course.
But teaching in Thailand is a easy job and anyone can do it.

Jobs at the moment in Thailand are hard to get, unless you want to teach.

It all depends on what you want to do.
If you want to be a teacher or engineer, then there is plenty of jobs. If you want to work in a bar or takeaway, you won't get anything

Please specify, IMHO the Kingdom has a very protective policy towards entrepreneurs and jobseekers alike. The industries in Southeastasia all seem to have larger growth in foreign investments due to the judical hurdles here. I live here a mere decade now and consider a move in the forseeable future. B)

Being a teacher is one of the easiest jobs to get, if you get to teach kids, then it is the easiest job in the world.

Can anyone enlighten me as to what Roy's problem might be?

One word, snide answers, or outright hostility to someone looking for an honest answer don't seem to me like good ways to attract forum participation.

I can sympathize with his apparent fear the the 'old' ways are disappearing, and Thailand is changing (I fell in love with the 'old' Thailand, too), but he seems to think that he's the only one who is entitled to live here.

What gives?

Too bad, because there appears to be a core of well-informed folks here, who genuinely care about Thailand and what happens here. It's a shame to chase people with the same interests away, in the name of guarding your (imaginary) turf.

I'll keep reading, and see what happens.

I would love to work behind the bar at any strip club. Looking at p@#sy all night and getting paid is a dream.
Almost as good as a gigolo.
