Is it better to extend the permission of stay for O visa or just let it run out and apply again for it?
Everyear I am sick of gathering all the paper work all the time extending it. I remember when I applied for it years ago I just paid a small fee with a copy of my passport, photos and maybe a few other documents.

If you let your Permission expire then you will have to exit Thailand, pay an overstay fine (if more than 2 day) visit an embassy/consulate abroad and apply for a Non Imm O Visa.
You may only get a single entry which is good for 90 days.
If you apply for an extension then, if you qualify, you can get another year without leaving Thailand.
Cost of an extension is 1900 baht

Yes, this is a good option, but don't forget that there are money in the back requirement for 1 year extension

All part of living here I'm afraid ... Paperwork .... Its something you just have to accept. I renewed my retirement visa last Friday. Wasn't that difficult really. The last time I visited immigration for my 90 day visit I asked for the retirement extension visa form ... They gave me that and a paper explaining what was required at there office. Now this is important because different immigration offices require different documents !!! My nearest immigration office is in Si Racha. So I needed a letter from the bank ... That cost me 100 baht .... Letter from the doctor ... 100 baht. A recent 6x4 passport photo ... 50 baht. We have a photocopyer so made sure I photocopied everything ... I had the form filled out and I was at immigration at 9am ... I was in and out in 20 minutes ... Total cost for another year ... 2,250 baht. I gues the retirement visa is one of the more easier ones to apply for. I am married to a Thai national and we have thought about changing to a married visa ... But having read up on this and speaking to a friend who has recently changed to this type of visa ... It sounds like a lot of work ... Be interested if anyone on this forum has done this ?
