BANGKOK, 10 September 2010 (NNT) The Tourism Authority of Thailand has projected that there will be more than 15 million foreign tourists traveling to Thailand thanks to tourism packages.
Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Governor Suraphon Svetasreni, made known the number of foreign tourists to Thailand from January to March this year increased by 20%, but dropped 25% during the domestic political upheaval.
A total of 8.7 million foreign tourists made their way to Thailand between January and July, an increase of 13.8% from last year. Up to 860,000 foreign tourists entered the Kingdom in August 2010 alone, up by 7% year-on-year.
The TAT expects to see 15 million foreign tourists for the whole of 2010, generating 530 billion THB in revenue. The TAT is positive that stimulus measures and packages, such as for health and eco-tourism will keep lively the travel sector lively into next year.
The TAT projects 15.5 million travelers in 2011, a 9% hike from this year but has admitted to some concerns over further domestic political issues.
