An Indian man who tried to get out of a marriage at the last minute was beaten and dragged into the ceremony by a group of locals.

Video broadcast on Indian TV station News 9 showed the man, from Mysore, crying and squirming as he was led through the vows.

The station reported that the man had courted the woman for 10 years, but when she proposed to him recently he got cold feet and ended the relationship.

A local group of youths reportedly heard that he had denied her request for marriage and decided to force him to go through with the ceremony.

In the video the men can be seen pushing him and slapping him as they drag him through the city to a temple.

But the groom's reluctance didn't seem to make the bride upset — she laughed throughout the ceremony.
