While travelling in Thailand for three weeks, I will be in Bangkok for a number of days for lasik eye surgery. I will be staying quite close to the Bumrangrad Hospital.

I am travelling myself and am happy to go into venues by myself for a meal or a quiet drink. I was wondering if there were any wine bars or pubs close where I could have a drink by myself without being hassled? Happy to talk to other customers but don't want to be hassled, not after a pick up etc etc.

Cheers

Hey Taz, Plenty of places in Sukhumvit for a quiet and not so quiet drink (mostly evenings)...All the larger hotels have wine bars, Landmark, Marriott are walking distance from Bumrangrad - expensive but no hassle

I am staying at a 24room villa and hadn't even thought of the larger hotels, I see from my hospital map there are plenty close by.

Thanks very much!

So many places in Bangkok.
Good wine is not cheap, the best trick is to drink the good wine first, when you start feeling tipsy, the bad wine strts tasting just as good.

I hope to be there in just over three weeks BKKTom - if the situation worsens again I will probably go straight to Chiang Mai for two weeks, with the hope that the situation may be a little better on the way back through.

Just come to Phuket.
You might get mugged by a lady boy, but you won't get shot by people in color shirts :sarcastic:
Thanks Bangkok for reducing the tourist numbers in Phuket. :speak_cool:
