I bought a modern BBQ for nearly 30,000 baht, it has 5 gas burners and is a really great BBQ, stainless steel, wok burner etc.
It cooks food great, especially bacon and eggs. But it just does not seem to cook chicken and meat that well.

So I decided to by a cheap Thai BBQ (120 baht), it is very simple which you need charcoal.

I cooked the same food on both chicken, pork, sausages, potato wrapped in foil.
The cheap Thai BBQ makes the food taste so much better, it just gives a better color and flavor, you can really taste the difference with chicken. So looks like I wasted 30,000 baht on this Australian BBQ :(

The only good thing about the Australian BBQ is that it looks good, it heats up quick and is convenient, but other than that, it is just an overpriced piece of equipment

The gas burner BBQ's are just to expensive here compared to Oz.
I asked BBQ Galores in Sydney to ship me one, they wanted to charge me nearly $500 in customs and duty. The BBQ I wanted was only AU $299.00.

Now I know why they cost so much here.

I would take the modern BBQ.
I am lazy and hate trying to get the charcoal hot.

I like both and yes there is a difference.Gas is a great way to go and you get the true flavor of the meat with the taste of the seasonings and charcoal has the charcoal flavor.

Well we all prefer the charcoal but don't let that stop you spamming the forum

Gas barbecue grills are cooking appliances that allow people to prepare and grill various kinds of meats in different cooking temperatures, substituting the place of traditional charcoal grills. As a more modern counterpart of charcoal grills, gas barbecue grills come in a variety of functionality to adapt in any cooking temperatures and durations.

I almost always make deviled eggs. Others of my favs are bbq chicken or Kabobs ( I put them together myself cuz you get more for your money). My dad grills turkey on the grill for our get togethers and that tastes amazing. Taco salad and 7 layer salad are other favs of mine. I'm all about the simple stuff.

My instincts would call for the "old school" charcoal burner, yet desire for the convenience of contemporary gas.
