Just wondering if you have any plan on Songkran festival.
For me, I prefer to stay in Bangkok. It's the Bangkok's best time of the year, quiet and no traffic.

Will stay at home, considering that 95% of family is within a 30km radius. Some odd family will make their respectful treks to the family compound....Mama & Papa's place. Does have advantages as to being married to the eldest. How anyone in their right mind, could conceive of celebrating Songkran festivities in a large urban environment, is beyond me. Rural and countryside settings are always exceptional and familial. Alas, most have forgotten the spirit of Songkran....it's just become one big commercial aspect to promote mindless consumption.

Agree with that. The true spirit of Songkran is in country side with family and relative are gathering around and young members gently pour water to the eldest's palm hand. Now is become commercial and partyness.

I'm fortunate to have resided in this setting in Surin for years, as Mrs. Roy's parents live down the road a piece and perhaps 80% of blood family live within a 50 km radius in very countryside Surin and Sisaket. The annual migration of family stragglers that live in CM & BKK is expected - everyone comes 'home' to Mama & Papa's place....where family, extended family, and neighbors gather. Still, about as old school as one can get. I've long experienced past Songkrans in similar rural settings in Sukhothai and Chaiyaphum as well.

I will stay indoors with a lot of beer watching it from my apartment in Bangkok.
I like to go out for a little while, but it bores me after a few hours, but is always fun to watch.

I hope to go to Khaosan Road.
Tried it last year, but just could not make it as the crowd was insane.
I will book a room this year.

Anywhere in Bangkok is good, I went to Chiang Mai a few years ago and it is crazy up there.
But this year will be somewhere in Bangkok, might just stay on my street.

Just a bunch of water throwing monkeys if you ask me. Seems like something children do.

You really are an A class idiot. Thai's would find that highly offensive. Dare you to go outside and call them that.

Difficult to do when you're thousands of kilometres away, yes?

People like Johnnywish seem to come here to just seek attention, if you look at most of his posts, it is the same stupid negative posting with no substance.
Johnny's life seems to revolve around convincing himself the people around him are not on his level, if you really need to try and put people down around you to do it, you have some serious issues.
I once knew a man like this, lets say he is not with us anymore, you need some help Johnny.

Somgkran is great at the beginning, then it just gets on my nerves.
It is a Thai tradition, so I do try to have as much fun as I can. All the locals seems to be in great spirits.

Last year I was looking at the Bangkok Post online and the amount of traffic accidents in particular the motor bikes. Was staggering but not really surprising seeing how some use the force to ride their motor bikes
