Is it safe to eat at major food chains in Patong/Phuket area...... am worried about getting sick from say the lettuce etc that is used as I am not sure whether they wash it etc in the main Thai water source....... Also are the bakeries etc safe to eat from aswell.................

Should be ok, I eat subway a lot and I am still alive.
If you are really worried about it, just eat fried food when you are here.

I don't think it matters where you eat you are going to get the occasional bout of the trots until you have built up a resistance to the germs/bacteria in Thailand.

Also I found that some of the older malaria tablets made me ill and I blamed that on the food until I found out what was causing it.

Buy the tablets when you are there, my fist 2 times i was in Thailand I was sick, the tird time I bought the medication as soon as I got there and took them everyday even though I was not sick. It worked too

Bonki's sermon hits the spot! Build up natural resistance or beef it up with pharmaceutical products. Barfing isn't considered something bad in the Chinatowns, maybe rats should be taken off the menues, if they have any. :rolleyes:
