I live just outside of Bangkok, when I do my visa runs, I go into bangkok and get on one of the buses that do the visa runs and then its done.
I would like to know if anyone has done one by themselves? Like drive to the border?
I am interested in driving to Cambodia as I really hate those slow buses, but not sure on what to do.
Do I need to get a visa? or do they issue it on the border?

Get your Cambodian visa at the embassy first and then go to the border, I understand that you can get the visa at the border, but apparently not all border checkpoints.
That is all you need.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has launched e-Visa, which enables you to apply for a Cambodia tourist visa online. Instead of applying through Cambodian Embassy, all you need to do is to complete the online application form and pay with your credit card. After receiving your Visa through email, print it out and bring it along when you travel to Cambodia."

The e-visa saves travelling to get one, saves hassle at the border, and the big plus for me, it saves a whole page in your passport.

A Korean company runs the service since years and they up-charge 5 $ for that. E-Visa have been rejected at leisure of the Khmer border posts with little traffic. They nail the owner for additional fees at the border then!
Only a Visa issued by the embassy guarantees smooth travel!

If I want to waste the extra 5 $, I get a B-Type business visa, which can be extended indefinitely :whistling: !

Yeah, compare to our neighbour, their rules are more attractive to live.

They might have better visa rules, but are they a better place to live? I don't think so.

Matter of ones perspective, interpretation, and character - isn't it?

Visa runs..... Depends on my mood, sometimes I am looking forward to it and sometimes I want to moan all day about it.
Today, I will say visa runs is a good way to get cheap alcohol and cigarettes which makes up for the cost on the visa run.

I enjoy visa runs, I usually spend a few days in Malaysia on my run and enjoy it as I have a few friends there. Thailand is just forcing me to see my friends which works well with me.

Visa runs are usually required because of some archaic law that requires foreigners to leave the county in order to get the proper visa, which allows them to return and work in the country they just left.

It's kinda cool, isn't it?

Has anybody been on visa run where drivers not drive too fast to the border? :)
