Phuket minus 80% of the tuktuks and 50% of the idiot tourists might indeed jump back on my places-to-go list :wacko3:

Phuket is a good place to live, but you have to get away from the tourist places.
Naiharn and Rawai in the south have nice beaches and is not as touristy as Paton and Kata/Karon and the other beaches on the west coast.
Phuket's east coast have few tourists, but many small nice beaches, mangroves and islands that can be explored by boat. All you have to do is rent a kayak or longtaiboat and you can go where you want.
This photo-blog is about paddling out to the islands around Phuket.

Phuket is good place. Ofcourse it is bit more expensive than other places but I think prices are still reasonable. Mountains are nice and it's clean and safe to be in Phuket.

I was in Phuket last year and it was a nice place to party. Nothing else, I could not live in Phuket. I would like to visit Trang next, that will be my next holiday down in Southern Thailand.

More than the highlights where you will be conducted (James Bond Island and Floating Village) all the way in the bay is a succession of beautiful cliffs, rocks and caves. I don't know if it happens in all circuits, but we were taken for a long trip, with a brake for lunch in the floating village.

Then a heavy rain appeared, making everybody fear for the long way back. The funny is that the village was so close to the starting point, that in a couple of minutes, we were well protected from the rain.
